During the 2008 campaign, questions about John McCain's birth in the Panama Canal Zone on a U.S. military base prompted some to ask whether McCain was eligible to be president, since the Constitution stipulates that anyone not born in the United States is not eligible to be president.
Amid a flurry of news reports, McCain's own campaign announced in February 2008 that it was conducting an investigation. KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 â€" Any type of handout and goodies to voters during elections is a form of corruption, an anti-graft watchdog group said today.
Datuk Paul Low, president of Transparency International Malaysia said that any “enticement†for votes during elections was considered “corrupt practiceâ€.
“There have been a lot of arguments on vote buying, enticing voters via money, 'sewing machines', we believe that this is corrupt practice.
“When you give these sweeteners, what would be the motivation? Any enticing for votes, we believe that is corruption,†said Low.
Although he did not name anyone, it is believed that Low’s remarks were intended Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, for his statement in Parliament yesterday.

BANTING, March 11 â€" Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim went on the offensive last night in a renewed battle with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, repeating his accusation that his political mentor practised cronyism and nepotism in his 22-years as prime minister.
Anwar sought to avoid directly addressing claims by Dr Mahathir in his memoirs out earlier this week, that he had propositioned four girls for sex and not denied accusations of sodomy while he was still deputy prime minister in the 1990s.
Instead, he attacked the former prime minister’s credibility in a political rally here last night, saying the Mahathir administration, which lasted from 1981 to 2003, was rife with corruption.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 â€" A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer accused the police today of twisting his statement on the time he interrogated Teoh Beng Hock in July 2009, the royal commission of inquiry investigating Teoh’s death heard today.
MACC assistant enforcement officer Arman Alies said a police officer at the Selangor police contingent headquarters had recorded his statement, saying that he had interviewed Teoh for more than two hours from on July 15, 2009 to 12.40am on July 16, 2009.
But Arman insisted that he and another MACC officer, Mohd Ashraf Mohd Yunus, had questioned the DAP aide from 10.30pm to 11.50pm that day at the then-Selangor MACC headquarters in Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam.
“At the Selangor police contingent headquarters... they did not want to listen,†said Arman at the royal panel today.
