KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 â€" Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has voiced his support for his sister-in-law’s crusade against what she deems exploitation of Sarawak’s people and forests by Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
Writing in The Independent newspaper in Britain yesterday, Brown described the deforestation of Sarawak as “probably the biggest environmental crime of our times.â€
Clare Rewcastle-Brown, who took responsibility for Radio Free Sarawak and the Sarawak Report blog two weeks ago, has been highly critical of Taib’s 30-year-old administration, accusing it of widespread corruption and illegal political practices.

Oil prices hovered below $103 a barrel Friday in Asia as traders worried protests in Saudi Arabia could escalate and potentially hamper production in the world's largest crude exporter.
Benchmark crude for April delivery was up 9 cents at $ a barrel at midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract lost $1.68 to $102.70 on Thursday.
In London, Brent crude was up 7 cents at $115.50 a barrel on the ICE futures exchange

He said the Insolvency Department reported 1,086 civil servants were declared bankrupt in 2009, per cent of whom were men.
